Shaking up the music game in Pakistan
Saqlain Ali or better known by his stage name, SQLN. He is a young Multi-genre Music Producer from Karachi, Pakistan. He Produces sounds that vary from EDM such as, house, tech, dubstep, and anything that falls in between.
SQLN has does an outstanding job at bringing a sense of familiarity and a touch of something new together for his Pakistani audience. There is no denying that countries in the east are heavily influenced by western media and sound. So, when something is played enough to feel digestible, EDM is one of those genres where it has its appreciation far away from mainstream music. EDM was at its peak here in North America in 2017-ish. It is easy to say this genre was short-lived to its max. SQLN takes the help of meme culture and his young audience that helps boost and bring this genre to life here in Pakistan. You can see these examples with the few troll tracks he has produced such as his “Spongebob Squarepants vs Closing Theme (Dubstep/Trap Version)”. Another example of how well-executed he takes familiarity and introduces something new is remixing already well-known and popularized songs. This has really pushed him to the forefront of the very first EDM artists in Pakistan.
